Re: Brake Upgrade

Also for the fronts: 1971+ Ford 1/2-ton pickup had optional disk brakes with a king pin design. This is what Paul used for his front conversion. About the same work as the other conversions including mine, except it does require machinist work and you have to figure out the steering. Paul proved it will work. See for some details:http://www.1956packardpanther.com/PaulDiscBrakes.html

You still have to replace the dreaded BTV though.

I've had an MSD-5 on my 55 Pat since I bought it 8 years ago. Nary a problem, but if there was one, it still retains the stock distributor and just one jumper wire converts back to stock.

"Gentlemen":

I'm done with this childish behavior.

Until further notice, I will NOT read nor post on this or any other Packard forum (AACA) until sanity returns.

As to the PV8C oil pump adapter kits (Melling, Oldsmobile or whatever): As of this date a total of 12 kits have been sold. Not sure exactly how many are running on the street at this time, but "several" is reasonable. There are 6 more prospective buyers waiting for $ or circumstances to purchase. I have no more kits in stock, but have contacted the machinist to knock out 2-4 more depending on what material he has on hand.

One of the kits went to Rich Fox who's building a Packard V-8 for his Bonneville Vega. That ought to be the "acid test".

In any case, no reports of problems from anybody. Those who have one running report about 10psi increase in oil pressure across the board.
