Restoration Specialties sells them in a few sizes. I know you want to do a perfect and authentic job on the Jackard now you know they belong in there and where. For some hold down purpose.

In the ‘70s i had an acrylic enamel paint job that started getting little chicken feet which soread all over. Now if theres a scratch or scrape or pock mark, i just take it off the car and to the paint job for a perfect match. The glory of PPG Envirobase paint.

Howard, Not sure this will help, but you could familiarize yourself with the basics of the task by going to The Duchess Project starting at post #443 and starting step by step at post #469. Its something to do until someone who knows how to do it on a ‘34 responds. Lots of pictures along the way.

In the 1935-41 parts book, there are only two footman loops, both used for top hold down. The utility part# for yours is 313154. If the ones in your car are 1.75” center hole to center hole, Them is the ones. Check out 50.655 utility and 31.053 strap and 31.054 footman loop.
If using them to hold straps that hold the top down is impossible, they are not original.
Mine are 327381 1-7/8” center to center as per my model number.

On my 1940, the footman loops are attached to the metal panels on either side of the rear seat back cushion in order to secure the straps that hold down the convertible top so the canvas doesnt billow out at 70.

This morning I wired the lever as far forward as it would go, which is about perpendicular to the ground. The clevis is still disconnected. The lever resisting moving more forward and my pulling on the knob is what broke the wire. I pulled out the knob/rod. I removed the OD fuse. I did a test run around the block. It would do a “soft shift” into reverse, the back up light comes on, but reverse wont engage.
I have a house guest, so i cant take any more time on this until Thurs, but i know I’ll have to open the tranny and see if the detent is stuck. The grandkids have been waiting for the last day of school to be picked up with the top down. Fortunately theres a roundabout entrance exit, so no reverse needed.

I disconnected the clevis and wired the lever all the way back. I inserted the rod/knob to trip the lock out switch. I drive around the block. The OD engaged as it should. I stopoed and attempted to engage reverse. It did not work.
Tomorrow i will try it with the lever tied all the way forward. Im not sure how to trip the lock out switch on. I can pull the rod out, but not sure if thats enough.should i disconnect one of the wires? Or connect them together to take it electrically out of overdrive?
