I have a '54 clipper deluxe with an electric antenna. I have the newer style guage cluster without the 3 individual round gauges. The super is a fancier model, but for some reason they kept the guages from the prior year. The push pull knob all the way to the left does operate the antenna on my car. So - no those are probably the original guages.

Thanks for the info. I'll consider the adapter. I'll report back - but I am guessing the ride will be great. The ride was pretty good in with the bias ply - but I felt that they were awful in the rain, and the tended to follow any grooved pavement. They complained a bit going around turns too.

I was surprised to find that only one of the four wheels had any wheel weights at all. It was pretty smooth until about 65-70 mph.

yes - neither tire pictured is mounted on a rim. I guess that some of the difference would be erased if the radial gets a lot taller when inflated, and the bias ply doesn't. We'll see - I am having the wheels stripped and repainted before mounting the tires, so it may be a week or two.

I was surprised that no-one had weighed in either...

I found that my local Goodyear is one of the only places around that has a lug centric attachment for their modern balancing machine. - So I'll take them there.

Here is a nice web piece I found that shows lug-centric balancing.

I was surprised to see the difference in height between the Diamondback 225-75-15 Fury tires (made by Cooper) and the bias ply Coker Classics 7.6 X15 that were on my car. I haven't had them mounted yet - but it seems like a big difference that will affect ride height noticeably.

The Diamondback rep assured me that the 225 75 15 was as close to the original size as possible.

I am about to have new diamondback radials mounted for my '54 Clipper. I've been reading that steel wheels have the centers stamped, and that they are often not perfectly centered - causing cone balancing to not be accurate. Is it worth my trouble to track down a shop that can do lug-centric balancing? In other words, are the centers on Packard wheels generally true?

I ordered the tires from Diamond Back. They advised that the 225 75 15's are the closest replacement to the original 7.6 X 15 (they should be very close) and the only 225 75 15's they sell with a 3" whitewall is the tire made by Coooper - so that was the choice. Once I get them on the car I'll report back... I am going to strip and repaint the wheels before having them mounted, so it may be a little while.

Looks like they will be Diamondback 225 x 75 R15 - I'll talk to the diamond back rep to figure out which line.
