I've been running OK sleeved to standard 282, 16th series, for over 40 years. About 15 years ago had small crack, weeping water, 'metal-locked' between bore and exhaust valve. Still OK. Occasional sticky exhaust valves run much better with multifleet oil like Catex Dello 400 15W-40.

Please may we see an up-dated photograph of your 1702 on the owner registry, as your original info prompted me to join packardinfo.com?
I am now enjoying the forty third year of use of my little 1602 junior. Tidy usable is a good way to go. It has no flash custom body work, just factory options, yet eyes of others also enjoy it, I guess Packard design got it right.
Hope you have many years of good use too.
