Not sure why I was thinking 120, but the 110 carb is obviously different. Stromberg BXOV-26. Still tough to find new, but you never know...

SO, as Craig would put it, i'm "moving on" with this topic.

We need to determine if any transplant master cylinder has a residual pressue valve. Is such a valve even needed??? Seems to me like it's needed. More study on the residual pressure valve for the drum brake application is in order.

Am confused. The original thread was trans overheating and slipping but don't see mention of engine overheating. You say radiator re-cored--the engine coolant radiator or the trans cooler? If trans cooler, what type do you have?

As to the leak, several things can leak in that area thru loose bolts or blown gaskets but most likely culprit is the front seal.

I am still looking for an answer to what Packard if any Precision Gear # CF444-IW clutch disc fits.

Dave, I've browsed the info I have and can't help on the clutch number, but if anyone knows it would be Fort Wayne Clutch. They advertise regularly in Hemmings, why not give them a call and if they're willing to take the time, I'm fairly sure you'll get an answer.

Thanks Guys for the feedback.
I didn't tell the whole story.......... My Dad and I drove to La. outside of New Orleans over Labor Day weekend in 1984 to pick up a beautiful 110 convertible coupe. Last month, my Dad called me and asked if I wanted the Packard. He knew I loved the car since he had bought it. I was floored. He said "you're gonna get one day so you may as well enjoy it now".
Well I've got it and look forward to driving it. As far as the wrong forum........sorry, I still get excited and must have been delusional.

Thanks again,
Steve P

Thanks guys, The accessory didn't come in a box. BdeB, I did find that installation instructions in the 51-54 manual and also saw the photo in the '48 Accessory booklet but I want to be sure that the install is correct for the 41-47 Clipper body. It seems that the installation instructions allows for some leeway in where exactly to locate the hole so I imagine that since this was a dealer/owner install and not a factory one that there is no one answer.
Howard I know most of the answers to the really easy questions . As for hard questions I am still looking for an answer to what Packard if any Precision Gear # CF444-IW clutch disc fits.

55Packardguy. Thank you. And thank you to everyone else for their patience with me.

IT HAS SUDDENLY dawned on me that:

****** No one finds any MORE fault with the BTV than any other single cylinder set up. ******

OR to put it another way:

Everyone would agree that the BTV is no better or no worse than any other SINGLE cylinder set up.

Altho i disagree with the above 2wo statements and i disagree that Tandem cylinder is any safer than the singles, i suddenly realize that my analysis SPECIFICALLY OF THE BTV is somewhat of a moot point relative to the general consensus.

Greetings,

I did take the advise to have the radiator checked and sure enough it was plugged. Got it back with a new core on Friday, so we'll see if that helps once I get the fluid changed.

I noticed Saturday when I started it and let it run that I now have a leak coming from the tranny. It looks to be coming through the hole in the plate that gives you access to the drain plugs on the torque converter.

Any ideas what seal(s) might be there that might have failed because of the overheating?

Thanks All.

JD in KC
2677 = 26th Series (1953), Packard Mayfair Hardtop
3512 = 1,512th model of this type built (I think the numbering for this series started with 2,001 if not, someone will correct me).
LM = Paint, Two-tone, Sunset Red over Topeka Tan
95? = Trim Code, If it's '95' (hard to see) Light Green and Dark Green (Light Stripe) Broadcloth.

If you haven't done it already, you should download the 1948-1954 parts manual from this website. All the above info is found in the first 20 pages or so.

The Parts Manual is located here:
https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/article/view.article.php?140

This is a critical piece in figuring out which parts are interchangable between years and models.
