It could be the crap we pass off as gas.People all over the world are starving and we keep putting corn in our gas tanks. It destroys old cars.

I was on a club tour today with my 56 Patrician.Things were going well and the car performed good until we hit a stretch of winding uphill back roads. As I was going up the one stretch, the car downshifted and when it tried to upshift, it sounded like I was attempting to downshift a non- synchro standard trans(loud grinding like sound).I hit the highway for home and to add insult to injury, my drivers side wiper blade flew off the car during a downpour. Now, when the car shifts into direct drive, it makes and audible Gerrr sound whereas before it was smooth and quiet.

If you are not interested in the 29, could you post the ad.I would love to know where I can get a full classic Packard for that price that I can get in and drive.

The 1929 Packard is a full Classic with a Capital C.It is not, however, an easy car to maintain. All things being equal, it is the best buy.

It is interesting that many of the products that Guscha talks about as "American" are not made in the U.S. They are sold by U.S. companies but made overseas.

Well,if you have to get a "Bath Tub", A Club Sedan is an excellent choice.

I agree. The U.S. Auto makers made their share of mistakes, but I wonder how well they could do with the Billions of Dollars that we are pumping into the banks and AIG.They produce nothing but bad debt.At least the Auto makers employ people who make something useful. It is sad.The U.S. has become a Third world "has been" that hasn't figured it out yet.

55Packardguy.If you are worried about the oil pump, get your hands on a second generation pump and have Bob Aller rebuild it for you.You will not be disappointed.Owen is right.GM used a similar pump.
