Well, i have made up the wiring loom from front to back and installed it where it should go. I have also fitted one of the tail lights, I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the rubber gasket the fit was not really very good, and because I am here in the UK its just to much trouble to send back to the US. I have also fitted the number plate light and got wiring in for that. The fuel tank wires are also in. I have also fitted the floor heater and also fitted the underlay sound proofing on the floor, i have to cut out where the seat bolts to. I have got to order the rubber water hose for the under floor heater. I have also got the rear window glass cleaned up nice and fitted that it went in really well apart from where the join is, its a bit off centre so i will pop the window out again and centre the join up. I have also got the headlight bowls painted and fitted. I am just waiting on some heat shrink so i can start soldering all the eyes onto the wiring loom and start wiring up. I am also waiting for the temp gauge to come back from the reapairers then i can get the Dash board put back together and installed. Well thats about it on the update for now. Are post some more pics shortly.

Well i have got more done to the car, the front wing and doors are fitted and painted. I have also fitted the front grill and bumper. I have also got the bonnet prepped and painted. I do have a question. The chrome trims that push onto the rear window and the front windscreen do these trims need to be pushed into place first before the rubbers and glass are fitted or after. Thanks.

Well i have continued to get more bits done for the car, I have blast cleaned the inner fender panels prime and top coat. I have fitted one, just waiting on the rubbers to rivet into place. I have also blast cleaned other items and the bumpers. I have also managed to clean paint and rebuilt the under seat heater. I have also fitted a new wire. The heater under the dash I am going to leave in the original paint as its in good order and still has the packard logo on it, would be a shame to loose that. I have also painted the inner side of the trunk lid. Now got to paint the outside. The dash board is also now painted so I will be looking to get this back together. Well thats about it on the update for now, hope you are enjoying the restoration blog.

Hi, to be honest I am not a lover of the wood grain. I know thats what it should have but I think i shall spray in a satin finish. Colour wise it will be sme as the steering column or a bit darker. I have also started painting the shell in the olive drab. The car is going to be an US Army Air Force Staff Car.

Thanks for that. I managed to go through some pics, I kept all the original rubbers and shims and have used them they all seemed in quite good order. The body went back on without a hitch.

Yes mine is the non electric, looks like i will have to make a bracket to mount to the side of the steering box for the spring to fix to ond onto the clutch arm. I also have another question, is there any info anywhere about the shims or spacers between body and chassis. ure they vary in thickness. Mine were pretty rotten I was going to use canvasrubber. Thanks for your help. Howard
