Thank you JW. The fitting is loose but it doesn't appear to rotate around the line, it wants to rotate the line as I turn the nut leading me to believe that it will twist ,collapse or end ip breaking the line, I 'm just trying to avoid this. At this point I will just have to take my chances and hope for the best. Thank you again for your reply.

Thank you for your reply HH56 I'm not sure how it is attached to the instrument gauge. I am going to attempt (that is if it breaks) to repair at the block since there is enough of a coil that I can add an inch to adapt to the block. I wonder if anyone has attempted this. Thank you for the photo also, much appreciated !!!

Hello, My previous post I was asking about the oil pressure line on my 37. I did not receive any replies so my question is if the line breaks at the engine block is it repairable with a compression fitting or is there a better method of repair. Thanks

37 Packard 6 cylinder oil pressure line

Hi Packard Friends,
Thanks to all of you I am one step away from having everything detached from my engine prior to removing it with the exception of the oil pressure line. I loosened the nut on the oil pressure line and I feel resistance as far as the nut will not rotate around the line. I have sprayed it with PB Blaster and will try it again tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions ? I'm sure those lines are fairly delicate and I do not want to break it. Thank you

Just curious, The few times I observed a Packard engine removed a chain with steel plates was placed under two head nuts and the engine was lifted. I am removing the engine and transmission together. Where is the best place to attach a chain for removal, are the head bolts okay ? Thank you

Thank you Phil, it can be easy to overlook things until you start to actually remove the power train

I have disconnected my coil wires, horn temperature gauge wire, accelerator rod, fuel line and will unbolt the motor mount, transmission mount and disconnect the driveshaft before removing my powertrain. Is there anything else that any of you on this forum can add to this that I may be overlooking. Thank you

Thank you Packard 385, it can be a little daunting when you are trying to be so careful to not mess anything up when taking a car apart that you are not familiar with. It would be nice if someone would write a book or booklet describing techniques on subjects like this for example and others that are not covered in books. Maybe call it Packard Basics. If it wasn't for this forum I would be in deep trouble. I can't Thank everyone enough for all of the help that I have received.since I began the steps to replace my engine. What a great resource this forum is ! Thank you
