now that the fender is off i can see the nuts holding on the trim piece.

one of the ones i can't get off is the one right before the back fender well. it is the vertical one on the front of the fender well in the rear. i just want to be careful as the trim on this car is in great shape. just a few dings and one major smash, but other than that it is perfect w/ no pitting or anything.

enjoy the pics from this morning.

expect to see the whole front of the car off soon. i wanted to do this so i could dip little pieces a time....they are cheaper to dip...about 150 bucks a panel...the body is about 1800, so it will have to wait for now. the frame is about 500.

i will do the doors, hood, trunk lid and front fenders first.

i also plan to lift the body off soon to see everything underneath better.

later for now.....

Hank

p.s. and good location for replacement front floor pans. i saw a set on ebay....

i unplugged the ant. from under the dash....there are two wires....one with a red strip at the end. i hooked them up to the battery terminals, only made clicking noises. if you reverse the cables it should reverse the rotation of the motor....but it still only clicked.

any information or service bulletin or manual on what to expect when i take it apart....i want to make sure i can get it back together is all. the ant. i stuck in the up position and you can't push it down by hand either.

okay update for tonight...

i got all the trim pieces off the driver's side using my handy trim puller, worked great and didn't bend any of it a bit. i can't get off a couple of the pieces though and i will post pics of them tomorrow.

once i did that i started taking off the driver's side fender. that took some doing as most of the bolts didn't want to budge. i couldn't get the trim off the front fender either and where the front grille comes around to match that trim piece it ended up breaking...dammit! no biggie, but it still pissed me off a bit.

me and my dad took off the fender and started gazing at the side of the motor....for so much room under there things are kinda crammed, like the power brakes are shoved near right up tot he stearing arm.....crazy..must have been a pain in the Arse to check the fluid or to fill it......i see the instructions as follows:....remove left fender....check fluid level...LOL HAHAHA j/k

well that is pretty much all that got done tonight as the fender was being alittle fussy, so it took me awhile.

until tomorrow.

Hank

i took off the left fender tonight....but question....what is the big tank for...brakes when the motor happens to turn off while driving? also i unpluged the power antennea from under the dash and pulled it through the firewall. i hooked the leads up to the battery hoping the thing would go down, but all it did was make a clicking noise. reverse the cables and got the same thing. any suggestions as to why my power antennea wont go up or down? am i doing it wrong.

thanks,

Hank

problem is the car is going to be dipped....so it will end up with bare metal under there, so i need to get it off to paint so no future rust happens.

i will try my little picks that came in my screwdriver set. i just wanted to make sure there weren't any clips behind it that i should be aware of. i was pretty sure it was just crimped on. thanks for the help!

how do you take off the chrome/stainless rain lip molding that is above the windows, at the edge of the roof of the car. they look like they are crimpped on....but is there a way to take them off without destroying them.

thanks for the help.

very nice!! thanks for the explination. i understand now.

my passenger's side front floor board is a bit weak. it has a couple of holes in it that i found with the screwdriver while pocking a bit. found it when i heard, ccccrrrreeaaakkkk. it is very easy to push down on the floor boards in the front on both sides, the driver's is better, but do you think i should just replace the floor board or spot surgery it at a body shop?

all the metal around the windows is really good too, which i am glad as i have heard that can be a nightmare to fix and costly too.

yep, this car is an original TX car, sold at Hilburn motor co. in Sherman Tx, back in the day...never left TX far as i can tell. i am waiting on more history of the car from the person i bought it from.

any suggestions for a novice restorer are greatly appreciated

thanks again,

Hank

okay, tonight was less eventfull, but just as important. we took out the head liner. lots of pieces had to come off first....like what are those things that you can move by hand to cover the windows at the top. are they rain lips or something.....weird, but cool. i am glad i saw the little screws behind that that held on the trim on both side of the inside headliner. i didn't want to bend anything. also what are those rails underneath the headliner that was holding up the cardbaord liner?

my wife is doing a great job putting everything into baggies for me....taggin and baggin....and she's badass!

that's all for now....

oh....how does that trim on the rain lip come off..is it crimped on or what....does it even come off????

thanks,

Hank

also, what is the dreaded Tin-worm? i have never heard that before. i have a couple of holes in the floor pan on the passenger's front side. and a couple in the trunk, but other than that it looks solid as can be. i am happy, but i am worried what it may look like under thet trim pieces on the car.....we will see.

later,

Hank
