Howard, the 5677A is officially a senior but, of course, it was built on a Clipper Custom platform and replaced that model in the lineup so certain things might be considered junior even if the car itself isn't. I'm saying this not so much to correct you (heaven forbid!) but to clear up the record for anyone reading it later.

The pad on your cam looks quite worn so, as long as it's in the same location and the angle is the same, it should be fine. However, the inlet on yours should be at the rear but if it isn't, you'll have to remove the housing and reverse it. It too difficult but best to look up ad follow the reassembly procedure as outlined in the shop manual.

The line from the pump to the filter should be a single piece of steel tubing and if it is, it can't be installed any other way. All 1951-1954 Packards had the front as the outlet so odd they would sell you one that is so wrong.

I was picturing something much larger than that, maybe an inch if not more in diameter! Was it really so small?

I noticed the missing heat shield too and as far as I know, they all had it.

Re: Gas Tank Identification

It's the one with the longer neck that I'm trying to identify. The one with the stubby neck is from a 1951 Henney-Packard and I once had a 1948 Henney but never pulled its tank although I did get some parts from an identical one at a local vintage car parts house. I don't recall getting the tank, though, and I never had a 1946 or 1947 so I'm beginning to think that maybe the tank was inside one of my cars when I bought it!

Anyone? I'm thinking it might be a 1948 and maybe a Henney but I need some confirmation.

That all looks really good, Kevin! If you are looking for originality in final appearance, I seem to recall that the rear wheel wells have some large diameter rope-like material at the seam where they meet the fenders. You've sealed so well that it probably isn't actually needed for functionality but it will look original with it.

This, of course, is probably a last step once the mat or carpet is installed and will make the seam look nice and tidy. I'm not sure where one buys the rope, though, as I've never gotten far enough on any of my cars to need it.

As Howard (HH56) suggested, the mechanical items are not the same but it is the same system so the conversion would be identical and have the same requirements for any model. You would need to be sure you had senior parts.
