Great finds you got there. Wish we had some shows close to here so I can find great bargains like you did.

When I jacked the body up off the frame in the back between the body and the frame (near the body bolt) there was this material that reminded me of tar paper/shingles.

Was this original or was it added by someone? If original can I just go with tar paper again or ????

Was the purpose of this material so you wouldn't have metal to metal contact and was is it also to control the noise of metal to metal?

the fluid from a saftey-kleen machine (parts washer solution) works pretty good, better if you can run the engine and get it hot
I second the saftey-kleen stuff. It works alot better then spray can stuff. A friend of mine got me five gallons or so of it awhile back. You can use that stuff over and over if you can catch in a tray and strain it.

Well guys uship worked out pretty well they will be picking up my engine tomorrow and have it at Harts Machine Service tomorrow Afternoon. All for $130. It would of cost me about that much in gas if I had to run it out there. :)

I just registered on uship.com and received a bid for $125 cheaper then what I paid for having the upper half of my engine shipped back to the body shop. What a great way to save.
