A note from "Packard Truck Dave" - "The nation's oldest Pearl Harbor survivor, Ray Chaves, died at age 106."

The 1918 Packard Truck found in Serbia that "Packard Truck Dave" helped restore took part in a celebration of the Centenary of the end of World War I in Belgrade, Serbia:

Is it the CHP that is giving you grief or the DMV?
It might be helpful if you post a photo here at PI of what you have inscribed. Also, it might be useful to have the Theft Proof number. We don't have much to go on with just this. As HH wrote, the DMV is getting a lot of heat right now because of the way they are backlogging people - even ones with appointments. It didn't help their case that there is an up-'til-now secret DMV office in the capital in Sacramento where the State Senators and Assemblycritters and other Sacto bureaucrats can walk in and get immediate DMV service while we plebeians have to wait up to 3 months just to get an appointment - and then the appointments are running hours late once you check in.

It's none of my business in a sense, but because you put the question up on the forum, I'll reply. I think it's blasphemy to put anything but a Packard engine in a Packard. "Shore 72" summed it up nicely. I strongly recommend against putting a non-Packard engine in the car.

<i>" any car maker who couldn't provide this new engine was going to be at a market disadvantage within their price segments.
"</i> You are exactly right, Steve! The "Master Motor Builder" should have led the charge on this one. Cudda shudda wudda ...

... hee hee ...
As I wrote at the SDC forum, my point was that as "The Master Motor Builder", Packard should have anticipated the V-8 trend and been among the first of the luxury car makes to offer a V-8. You are correct that Chevrolet and the other you listed introduced V-8s the same year as Packard. The problem is that Packard was the LAST of the luxury makes with a V-8. Of course, with Christopher running the show, that didn't happen ...
