What you have assumed is the manual override switch is really a cable going up to the speedo and is used to set the trip odometer. The switch for the tl is to the left of the steering column on the bottom lip of the dash.

talk about rust out early in a cars life, I had a 77 Plymouth Valore I bought new and the front fenders rusted out in a year. The factory replaced them but the new ones also rusted out in a year. They refused to replace the second set.

Gerry,
I am looking at those parts and the two rods are what I need. Are the rods for sale or maybe the whole kit and kaboodle? MY e-mail ra16684719@msn.com

I was under the impression that if had a good color sample, you could take it to a paint supplier and he could scan it into his computer and come up with a formula.

Yep, for a 55. Who is the guy in San Diego? I think the 56 would be the same.

Tried Mike a number of years ago. I'll try again. The service manual is where I got the clue as to how to the bend the rods that are presently in the car.

Shift rods

For years I have been looking for the two rods that go from the shift levers on the steering column to the levers on the standard transmission. The part numbers are 465373 for the first and reverse lever and 465385 for the 3rd and 2nd lever. If anyone has these rods, name your price. If any one has them and doesn't want to part with them perhaps they can provide me with a trace. I have been making out so far with treaded rods but the shifting is very sloppy as I just guessed at the angles of the bends in the rods. These rods do not show in a picture in the parts manual, but the levers they go into are shown on plate 34a in the parts manual.

Looks like it was reupholstered one time using the wrong material for the fabric. Green vinyl, dark blue on top of door panel. Someones been playing with this one.

Sorry, having a senior moment. Should have read 235/75 and 225/75 not 235/17 and 235/17.

I am running 235/17 on my 55 Caribbean and 225/17 on my 55 Clipper. There is a dramatic improvement using the radials over the bias ply. As was pointed out, beware of interference with the fender on tight turns. I actually have interference if I turn all the way right or left at a stand still. This causes the familiar fender hump we see so often. The tires I use are BF Goodrich.
