Sorry should have been more specific it's the Briggs# off of the cowl. I wasnt sure if it was for sale when I looked at it yesterday. So I didn't want to just start opening it up. But I will get the one from the door along with the theif proof number when I go back today.

And sorry about the double post I put this up from my phone and I don't know why it did that. Also I tried deleting the second one but I'm not sure that it worked.

Edit: Actually I'm not sure if it matters but that number was stamped on a plate on the drivers side. Not above the heater box.

Hey guys I went over to my local u-pull it yesterday looking for parts for my chevy, and ended up finding a Packard!

I don't have much info on it but here's what I have.

It's a 2652-5721

It looks like it was possibly pink

It had a bunch of parts stuffed into it, however no engine and it looked like no trans either.

The body looked pretty darn solid, with most or all of it's trim.

They want $500 for it and said it's been there a while. I'm afraid if no one picks it up it will be crushed, so if anyone is interested in it, I'm going to be trying to head back over there today and will post their contact info with some pics of the car if I can get them.

Someone should save it!

At this point no, the oiling system is about the only thing not leaking on this car so I don't plan on touching it untill I have to. My odometer reads 86xxx miles or so so it's good to know I still possibly have a while of service left in it.

I'm not at the point in my rebuild that I'm looking at my oiling system. But are later models less prone to this problem? Mainly late 56. Or did packard not catch this before the takeover.

Thanks I hadn't thought about that. So I take it I don't necessrrily have to purchase a packard unit? Exept for originality of course.

So it turns out that my heater core radiator is leaking from somewhere. My question is are they generally worth trying to have re soldered? Or should I plan on purchasing a new unit.

If I leave the heat off then the coolant shouldn't flow through the core, and should no longer leak until I turn it on right?

Thanks for the info, I figured if I asked someone if they knew where to get one I'd eventually find mine. It's amazing how it's always in the last place you'd look. For about two months it sat with my heater core. Then it was gone. And somehow it made it's way into my other car, which is odd because I don't mix my chevy and package parts.

Sorry i was at work yesterday when i posted, I have a 56 Patrician and it is indeed the tab that holds down the bowden cable for the flapper.

I didnt remove the control valve when i started the project because it was functional so i wasnt aware that it had a control cable as well.

The heater core box itself was just full of road junk, and had some knarly looking rust.
