I didn't realize how rare this ornament was, so I think I'll keep it! I've been unable to find a photo anywhere of one mounted on a car. If you have this on your car, could you post it here? Thanks.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. Now where on this site are the other option/accessory books? I've never seen that before....

"Egyptian" hood ornament questions

I have this hood ornament for sale in the "For Sale" forum, but I need more info on which model(s) it's correct. I've been told it was an optional ornament, I think for '48, but I don't know which models (seniors only?) it was available for, or if it was also offered in '49 and '50. Anyone know?

I quess we all learn by experience on this subject. I've documentated my shifting mistake a couple of years ago when I got in a hurry in traffic and "slid" from first to second way too quickly and engaged BOTH forks at the same time (on US 40 with a garbage truck on my "tail"). The result was chipping two teeth off of first gear. I now have a rebuilt '53 unit with an R11 OD in my '41 Clipper, and I shift more "deliberately"...

Re: DESIGN IMITATION?

BigKev, those drawings are incredible! The design artist(s) at Rolls HAD to have had access to them. The final Rolls/Bentley designs were just TOO similar to be an "accident." If only Packard would have evolved into that model instead of the bath tubs....

DESIGN IMITATION?

Is it just me, or is there a strong design similarity among the late 55's Rolls Royce Silver Cloud and the Bently S-Types, and the original Clippers of the '40's? They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery!

I've discussed this before in another thread, but I've been blending diesel (about 10%) with my gas lately to avoid having it "boil" on hot days. Would this practice also save the rubber and gaskets associated with E85 gas use?

I think I have a NOS Packard clutch plate that'll work in your car. PM me if you're interested and I'll dig it out.

I bolted a 3 gear with OD tranny out of a '53 with a 327 into my '41 282. Everything when right in; the '53 clutch, flywheel and bellhousing as well as the tranny input shaft..... Changes had to be made to the driveshaft, however.
