Thanks. Ours are just tall metal cans with a lid that screws on. There are 4 1/2" or so holes inside around a metal cylinder that clamps on the carb. A side brace helps hold it in place. Looks as if the air is drawn somehow through these holes. Any thoughts?

Can anyone provide me with info on the 22nd series air cleaner? I've got a '48 touring and my Pop's got a '48 club. is the air cleaner oil bath or dry? If oil bath how and where is the oil put?

It's not hard to do the actual painting. What is hard is doing the prep work. Cleaning, masking and taping is tedious. I use acyrlic enamel if I can't get engine enamel in the correct shade. Any automotive paint store can match the color if you provide a sample.
Just be sure to mask EVERYTHING! Overspray will find any uncovered area. Try using heavy disposable dropcloths and cover the whole vehicle.
