Hey does anyone have a rebuilt Cater WD-O carburetor they would be willing to sell?

I believe I got one of the same kits and after rebuilding the pump it still didn’t work. Could have been an error on my part but still I didn’t feel like it was a very good place to buy from. I would recommend either Kanter or Max Merrit for your go to place for future buys.

No thread locker or lock washers but be sure to use the steel locking plates that go behind each pair. They have little tabs that are bent up against one of the hex flats of each bolt. Merritt has those too.

Ahh, yes I’ll be sure not to forget those when I put the flywheel back on.

Alright so it sounds like this next time round I am going to;
1- replace all hardware
2- chase/clean all the threads
3- use a better torque wrench

Also another question- these shouldn’t use any type of thread locker should they? I never found anything in the shop manual so I am assuming no…

Remove what you're trying to attach, and run a bolt down by hand on all of the holes to make sure there's no dirt, chips, or debris binding up the threads. If there is, that would load the bolt differently than not and possibly cause a problem.

Though it sounds like the bolts are just worn out. I would get a new set in a case like this.

That was kind of my plan. My only concern is the ones I ordered from max Merritt are used… I just hope they aren’t only supposed to be used once.

So I was actually putting the clutch back on when they snapped- i looked up the torque spec , 25-28 off the top of my head. Set my wrench to 25 and started tightening in a starpattern 1/4 turn at a time and then they just started snapping before the wrench clicked. So long story short I’m not sure what led to them snapping. I’m thinking probably just because they were old? Or possibly because the machine shop machined my flywheel?

Alright good to know I guess I’ll just have to buy them. I still have some that didn’t snap, should I replace those as well or just the ones that snapped?

Hello, thank you all for your input. I just checked with max Merritt and they said they had some but they were pretty pricey so I think I’m going to go with a set of new arp bolts just to be safe.
Thanks again,
-David
