The new bezel arrived in the mail this afternoon. Looks fine and it fits the spare switch Randy had. Now I can be sure that the one currently on Caribbean will not be a problem as I have a spare. Good job White Glove Collection

Really look good as new. Only people who have done restoration will know the work and time spent on on such small part of project.Details separate the excellent work from just good enough

We are up to 19 just had dog out she acted as if it was 60 running and wanting to play ball. I also thought it felt a lot nicer the wind is not blowing and sun is out. Assume the worst is over for us in South hills of Pittsburgh. The good is being retired I do not have to go outside to go to work

There are straight places in western Pa just takes a little time to find them. Down hill don't count. Back in the day all car guys knew where they were and used them for non legal uses. Statute of limitation apply in my case

+The Olds or time frame for GM antennas is late 70 to 85 on full size cars .. The paint on engine is from Bill Hirsh 54 & 56 Packard. These pics are after rebuild and with the heat shield for intake manifold

Got question about progress on Randy's Caribbean . Will give a update currently working on power antennas sent out masts to be chromed missing one section on return. Also had to replace the thru bolts on one motor which is bigger job than I figured as the brush holder is on drive end of motor. Had to replace the nylon cord that drives the masts up and down. I used 1/8 weed wacker cord I have used it before on Olds power antennas with good results. The Olds antennas go up and down when ignition is turned on and off which is hard on the units. Packard will not be used that much. On my Clipper I seldom move them as if you use them not fully extended or retracted they stop at different heights which I don't care for that look.
Did locate a pair of chrome valve cover which I did not have. Little details cause me problems which always seem to take longer than I figure or plan.

To under cut the mica on the commutator take piece of hack saw blade grind the set of both side of blade to get width same as mica in the commutator. Under cut the mica by pulling blade outward to allow brushes to touch only commutator. After mica is cut small bevel on each side of each bar . Finish with sand paper not emery

Door stop detent

Do 1956 Packards have a detent door stop to hold door open. I have the stop which limits how far door can open. But I see no way or part that would hold door from closing when open. New cars have two places where door is sort of held open. My 57 has a stop that provides a little resistance to closing when open all the way. Check door part 424704 30.440
