Thanks, Mal. I had read that thread previously and the concepts (some, not all) stuck in my head. Frankly, my dear, I can't imagine what a royal pain in the @$$ making those divergent things work must be/have been. I think that a flathead Ford becomes something else when you put a set of Ardun heads on it, and I feel similarly about this-here rig. Maybe I'm stuck on flatheadedness. I wish I had bothered to learn something about machining when I wore a younger man's clothes.

Precisely. Go have some fun and spend some money. You didn't really need the money anyway.
The basic power increasing principle is, an engine is a kind of air pump. So, to make more power, one has to flow more air. The old saying is that there is no substitute for cubic inches. You'll be wanting those, and you'll be wanting to port and relieve the block, and you'll be wanting bigger valves. I haven't looked into what is available for replacement valves, but I suspect those would have to be custom fabricated. Also not sure what the limits to size increases are. Supercharging starts to make a lot of sense very quickly. You're likely limited to 10 pounds of boost without o-ringing the block, and you'll be in the head gasket fabrication business if you do that, I suspect. There's an article out there somewhere about a guy who was fitting a pair of IIRC Mopar 4.7L right side heads to a Packard block to convert it to SOHC operation. And you can't o-ring a relieved block, it dawns on me. This guy's book helped me more than any other about the theory of getting the most bang for your petro dollars: https://www.cartechbooks.com/products/david-vizards-how-to-build-horsepower?variant=34828555911213

Wat has 9 Clipper bodies. One has a good trunk floor. One. That's a 11.1% survival rate.
Looks like someone would make one. Then again . . . .

Yeah, me too. I knew that Fred wan't hurt, but that her feelings might be a bit dinged.
The guy I got this last car from, the Deluxe sedan ('46), kept these mouse things in it. Its house was a barn. The barn cat had died and a new one hadn't arrived yet. The mice did mess up one side of the driver's seat, but there didn't seem to be repeat damage after that when using the thingie, he reported. So we'll see. Cats are hunters of opportunity. If you want systematic rodent destruction, get a terrier, as the Brits discovered in the trenches of WWI.

Fred is fine. She came out of hiding. The landlady decided to keep the puppy closer to home. She lets the goat into the house yard so they can chase each other like maniacs. Fred stays on the other side of the fences with the horses. This way, Fred has the run of her usual stomping grounds and has her usual critters with her. The horses don't bother her.
We got some of those electronic rodent repellent thingies. I put two on extension cords and stuck them in the big coupe to help to preserve the rest of what interior remains. We'll see how it works. I guess that, come next visit (for a car show), I'll best spend my time tying into the '41 parts cars and try to liberate that worth saving and prepare to remove the remains. Meanwhile, work x 3 . . . .

Because if you want a Knucklehead, then you want a Knucklehead.
Difference, hot rodders and the aftermarket have avoided anvil engines like the plague, it seems. So you have to dig deep and spend some money. I dig the car/engine in post #7.

Make sure to get the right gauge, too. Six volt systems love wire size.
E = IR

Can't you pull out the braided wire fragments one at a time? Like, just pull them out?
