howard; i bought the rubber about 5 years ago and used it in my 48 custom eight-it just came out as the saloon car in pi magazine -about 4 months ago i did my 48 woodie. as i remember it was a stock item and i had to buy 50 ft. i am working with john at karr at this the trying to make some rubber for the woodie rear and quarter windows. they charge a fee to make the die and then so much a ft for the rubber. do you know a gentleman that lives east by the lake that ran a collage in la that has a 22 or 23 fastback? dell

I have replaced rubber on both my 2259 and 2293 with molded rubber from Kerr moulded rubber. It is 1/8 inch shorter on each side. It was the closest match and i checked all the supplers and looked at Hershey. Let me know if can't find e-mail address.

steele rubber products has the strip, it is not much fun to put on with staples-i cement with 3m and many clamps, let dry for several days and then make new staples with ss wire. it is not hard to remove from the car and replace after painting.

The new guides arrived Monday at work and as i work on tuesday and thursday, today was put in the new guide-I got out my service manual and read up on what I needed to do to put in the ice cold guide. In section v on page 28 i found my problem I think, under the "reseating the block" it explains about the valve being centered in the guide and what the out come will be- my problem. New guide, tight pilot, reground seat and valve, friday will see what happens. thanks all for your input. Dell

Thanks Dave; I printed the info and when i get to my shop tomorrow I will run the valve in my friends valve grinding machine to see if it is bent-stem is clean and smooth and I have a set of guides on the way from Egge. When I get the guide in I will regrind the set and see what things look like.
