yeah,it is a 51 mine was near the end of the run. my dip stick is on the driver side. this part is sticking down from a flat on the underside just over half way up the case. it is made of stamped sheet metal.it is not on the pan. it is treaded
too.

Help, I am trying to identify a part on my ultra-matic.It is on the passenger side in front of the pan. it appears to be treaded in. NO wires connect to it the treads appear to be 1/8 pipe and the max od of this device is about 1.5 in in diameter. tranny fluid is coming from it while the engine is running.

approx 85mph taking my "300" in for her restoration in 2002.Had a lot of pedal left too.

You should be fine with reg gas. Packard motors of your vintage used lower octane than current fuels.As for oil I like the oil with additive (30 wt) It may or may not be a personal preference.I am not sure.Others here may have different opinions, To me its cheep insurance. Make sure you drop the oil pan and clean first. BHW

Cleaned the contacts,and wound it. It runs. I will have to wait till the morning and check my extra fuses to see if it winds. Thanks again. Brian

Hey guys guess what nice weather! Fix the clock!Well try.Yeah Kevin the fuse was blown.BUT I see no way to get the clock out of the cluster other than taking the whole thing apart!The clock face is the problem.My clock is not like the one in the book that just comes out. ( Of course.) B
