Re: Loud mystery noise

While it is making the noise you might be able to use a stethoscope to help locate the area of the noise. I lew of a stethoscope, I've used a long piece of metal bar by holding one end to the area of interest and the other end up to my ear.

Hi Ken,

Congratulations on becoming a Packard owner and welcome to becoming a member of the "PackardInfo.com" gang. I live down the road from you in Simi Valley.

I own two Packards, a 1951 4 door deluxe sedan and a 1932 4 door 901 sedan.

Maybe we can get together sometime and talk Packard?

Thanks

Re: Removing paint from plastic

When I paint around the inside of the house, I use TSP (the real stuff - sodium tri-phosphate) in hot water to remove from plastic face plates. IMO that what ever you decide to use, try it on the back side to ensure that is does not affect the plastic adversely as there are many different types of plastic.

Installing Rubber Weatherstrip in Windshield in a '32 Sedan
Home away from home

Is there a secret to installing the rubber weatherstrip in the windshield? I bought a section of 70-0057-52 from Steele Rubber, but cannot get it into the T channel that runs along the bottom of the windshield. I've tried everything I can think of e.g. streching, water & soap solution, etc.

It not mine, it is a post by su8overdrive under "For Sale, Wanted, Trade" that I happened to see and wanted to call to your attention.

Is this what you want?

Excellent 4.09:1 ring and pinion (no differential, etc.). Ring stamped Packard part #347840, pinion #311914, 45-11 (4.09:1) from '47 Super, will fit many junior and senior Packards late '30s through 1950.

If so, go to the "For Sale" on this blog.

Good Luck

Re: Brake & Clutch Pedals and the Toe Board on a 1932
Home away from home
Home away from home

To close out this post, I got the brake pedal back after the chrome had been stripped several weeks ago. I made a crude forge that used charcoal briquets for fuel and the exhaust from a shop vac for an air source.

After two attempts of multi-cycles of heating, bending, cooling and fitting I was able to get the pedal so that it worked. It took about 4 hours with 20 to 30 trips in and out of the car before success. There are several small tweaks below the floorboard in the pedal, but above the the floorboard it looks and works great.

I'll send it out to be chrome plated once I get together of more stuff.

If I have time before sending it out, I may try to adjust the brakes on the beast.

Thanks to all for your input - they are always welcome!

Re: 1934 Packard wiring harness

I used Rhode Island Wiring on my '32. Was pleased with the way everything went and the quality.

ADDED EDIT,

Mine did not have instructions - just a wiring diagram with the ends of the wires having a label as to what it should attach to. Since I did not take the car apart, my biggest challenge was finding out where and how to route the wires. Instructions would have been nice.

Good luck
