Good Morning all...Now that we have Corey and Deven as just about the youngest Packard owners, will the oldest active Packard owners please identify yourselves and tell us about your Packard experiences. At 70,I suspect that I am in the high end of the middle of the pack...Ernie

Good afternoon Devan...You are most welcome on this site. It's great to see young people interested in Packard Automobiles.
You should register your machine in the 'Packard Owner Registry' here on the site. Mal from 'down under' will be giving you an invitation in the next few days, I'm sure. I personally think that it is very cool that you are going to drive the old girl to High School. It will be interesting to see what the young ladies at your school think of your Packard. Ask away we're all ready to help you. Ernie

Good Morning and welcome to the world of Packard Automobiles. Once you determine that you have the shifting forks adjusted properly, you might find that your transmission has lighter oil than it should have. When we purchased our 1949, we had similar problems...they continued until we changed to 140 weight gear oil and the transmission has worked like a clock since. These old girls have had many owners in most of their lives and they come to us with all sorts of things that are not stock. As we discover and repair the experience just becomes better ane better. ENJOY. Ernie

Good afternoon all...Our 23rd Series came home because Dolores liked her a great deal. Her opinion of the early 1930's Packard Automobiles was that they looked like big Model A Fords. Her opinion of the 51 to 54 models was that they looked too much like Chevys...She really liked the 23rd Series...I guess it was something like the three bears. Having had 'Miss Princess' for about 5 years now, she has grown on me and I find her rather stately! She might not be the very best looker, but she IS the very best lover! Ernie

You might try a condenser...if it is old, they will work cold but not as they warm up. Ernie

Good Morning...If the old girl runs and drives as well as she looks, then I think that it will give you pleasure. I often think that the Packard automobiles that are priced moderately are at a level that many of us can purchase simply to drive and enjoy without worrying too much about the cost.
When asked about resale, one of my friends always answers 'That is a problem for my heirs!' We, or our relatives, will see a return of a good percentage of the cost at any rate. If the car has been in very regular use, it will most likely be pretty well maintained. If it was only used now and again to drive around the neighborhood at low speed, then things might require more repair. Actually, mechanical repairs are easier in my most humble opinion, than interiors, body, paint and chrome...Good Luck...Enjoy...Ernie

For what it's worth...I think your design revisions are very cool...especially the treatment of the rear wheel wells on the formal sedan...I believe that it would have sold quite well. Ernie

Good Morning Tinman...For what it is worth, our 1949 Deluxe had only one ignition key and it was cracked when we received the car. I found a new blank at ACE Hardware (the blank is still in daily use) and they made me a couple of new keys. A friend looked up the oldest locksmith in Scottsdale for his Dodge trunk and the locksmith was able to figure out a key for him. Maybe your local dude used to crack safes! Ernie
