Well I was not saying that the hood interchange, just that the STB could apply to the 55/56 models also since the hood hinges and the rear structure of the hood is similar.

Thanks to Brian's Service index, and a nudge from him in the right direction I present to you this STB on the subject of Hood Flutter and Hood Buckling:

This was found by going into the 51-54 Service Index, and clicking on "Fenders and Sheetmetal". This listed the various topics on that subject. So much better than blindly looking from multiple years of STBs and SC's. Plus I am not sure I would have ever thought to look in the 1950 STB set, where this one was found.

With a 5462-5901, your car would have been the 4900th Super Clipper Touring Sedan off the assemble line. There were a total of 6,270 Super Clippers Sedan made. First number was 1001, and the last 7271. I'm thinking that your car probably had the standard Ultramatic and not the Gear-Start. Easiest way to check is to see if the there is a transmission dip stick near the firewall/steering column. If there is, then you have a gear-start, if there is not, then you have the standard Ultramatic.

Since you have a Super, you need to verify the brakes parts, and rims before replacing any parts. The Supers tend to have more in common with the '53 Juniors in that respect, while the Deluxes and Specials have more in common with the '55s.

Why Packard did this I have no idea. Everything else is the same. Your exterior trim is exactly the same as the Deluxe model (but not the Special). The only exterior difference between the Super and Deluxe model is the script. On the Supers it says 'Super', on the Deluxes it say 'Deluxe'. Other than that everything is identical. The Specials are different and have sparser trim.

I would actually expect you to get that white screen if you simply click on the PDF link. As you are trying to view the PDF over the internet. So basically your browser has to download a majority of the file before it can start to view it. So if you click on a 25 meg PDF. The white screen you are seeing is the broswer trying to download the file so it can view it. If you are on dial-up, or slow connection, then this may take a long time. This is not a website issue, but a file size vs. download bandwidth issue. I bet if you waited for the website to download the entire file, that eventually the white screen would disappear, and the document would view. Hence why at the bottom of every Article I have the note about right clicking and downloading it to your PC for viewing.

If the software support world I would refer to this problem a NFF. No Fault Found. Ticket closed.
