Randy,

Can you post a pic of those valve covers with red script. I cannot say that I've ever seen anything such as those.

Big Kev,

The powder coating wasn't too expensive because I have a large blast cabinet in my shop and I clean all my parts prior to delivery to the powder-coater.

Last trip to the powder-coater was $125. This is what got coated for that price. (Had I had to pay for the blasting of the parts it would have been more expensive)
- Air breather (2parts)
- (4) valve covers
- all parts to the heater core assembly
-battery tray
- '56 styled spark plug holders
and some other small parts I can't seem to think of at the moment.

It will cost you more each time you change your powder coating colors too (set-up). I have yet to have any parts colored anything but 60% black.

Hello Everyone,

I have never been a fan of the chrome valve covers on senior Packards of 1955-1956, for no reason other than my personal preference. I do howver love the look of the 1955 black covers with ivory colored script for the seniors.

Attached are pics of one of the valve covers for my 1955 400 that I recently had redone. The valve covers were powder coated with 60% black and then I had a very skilled automotive 'pinstriper' hand paint the script with ivory paint. I was going to use the ivory paint from Hirsch, BUT the pinstriper said that paint was too soft. He instead used another brand with a harder consistency.

Best regards,

Kevin

Thanks Owen,

As I mentioned I pretty much bought those plugs on impluse. Can you please recommend & provide a quick listing of plugs that will work in my Packard V8. If it matters, I have a '55 block that has been rebuilt to '56 374ci standards.

Thank-you.

Gentlemen,

I purchased a set of AC 43LS spark plugs thinking they would work in my 1955 400. Frankly, it was a chance purchase without prior confirmation.

Can one of you provide me with the application details in which these plugs can be used?

Thanks

Re: Left Rear Sway Bar Support Bolt Broken Off (55 Packard 400)

Keith....it snapped off because I didn't give full regard to the (52) years of rust etc. underneath and simply rushed things by not using PB blaster. I used a bigger wrench (wrong idea in retrospect), with a longer reach and learned a valuable lesson along the way!

I plan on removing the support arm from my 55 parts Patrician and doing a swap out. Today, I crawled under the parts Patrician and soaked nuts with PB Blaster and went to town using a wire brush. No mishaps thus far. I got the sway bar bushing and nut off this time without snapping things. I also loosen the 'U' bolts from the axle.

I'll be replacing all bushings with a call to Steele tomorrow.

Attached are some more pictures of the situation underneath my 400.

All,

I need suggestions on how to approach this situation. Shall I push the car off a cliff or shall I jump myself? No use swearing anymore, BUT can any of you provide advise on this problem? Yes, I was putting on the last of the new shocks I purchased at Kanter and snap! #$%&&^@*(*&%^$

Looking at the stud, it appears that the larger shoulder is welded in place to the long support arm that interacts with the leveler and not removable. I have a parts car if push comes to shove, BUT I'm again working around the dreaded torsion system again. Today is the first day in a long time that I've questioned why I had to have a torsion car? Yes, I'm feeling blue.

Thoughts appreciated.
