1956 Packard Air conditioning/After market

Hi:
Ron Amspoker here.
I want to put an aftermarket A/C unit in my 1956 Packard Clipper Super. It does not now, nor ever had A/C.
I have read many of the posts and have gained a great deal of knowledge. However, it seems there are a lot of alternatives (I'm not a mechanic) some of which I don't understand
My question is where do I go to select a unit that can be installed with the minimum of effort, knowing that some fabrication will have to be done.
I am in Gainesville, Florida, so if you know of a provider in this area it would be helpful.
Thanks, Ron

Thanks for all the responses. I will try each and respond to the results. Also, I don't have a good history on the car but I can come up with a picture.

Ultramatic shift problem

I have a 56 Clipper with a pushbutton ultramatic. The transmission was rebuilt and electronics gone over.
The ultramatic seems to work well after running for awhile, meaning a few mile trip.

However, when cold or after sitting for a few days, reverse will not go in reverse but moves the car forward. Another few mile trip is required before reverse will begin working as it should.

Does anyone know a knowledgable technician in the North Florida area (between Jax and Orlando) who could look at the electronics?

It seems I have addressed this issue previously so any additional information will be appreciated.

Thanks, Ron

Thanks for the tips. Yes it is a pushbutton.

A strange thing is happening in the early morning startup.
The reverse button wants to send the car forward.

After the car is driven for a few minutes reverse starts to work as it should?

Anymore input would be appreciated.

Thanks, Ron

Ultramatic shifting index

After months of frustration having an ultramatic rebuilt then the gearshift control system rebuilt on my 56 clipper, the car was recently put into operation.

I have a problem keeping the shifting indexed correctly. It was working correctly until today. I put the car in reverse and it started forward.

Any info to help or references to past postings regarding this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ron

I have a 56 Clipper and am trying to remove the bezels from around the antenna and headlight switches without scratching the chrome.

They are being stubborn.

Any suggestions? Thanks, Ron
