Thank You again for all your comments, every thing everyone has mentioned has been done including backing of the brakes 7 notches, I have vacuum as stated, with the accept ion of the foot pedal travel which is about 1/2 with engine off and vacuum depleted. start engine and maybe only an additional 1/2" travel for a total of only about 1". the only thing I can think of is I don't know if the hand brake was disconnected prior to the brake adjustment. Thank You again for every ones help.I am becoming very with my Delmor but feel everything has been done according to the book accept for disconnecting the hand brake which will be done next week, will keep everyone posted.

Thank you for the reply, my mechanic & I have done all of the above from A_Z there is vacuum to booster, there is very little travel when applying pedal i literally have to stand on pedal to stop car and no lock up at all. all the brake parts have been replaced, one note if the vacuum line is disconnected from the booster there is little to no brakes at all,the only other thing we are going to try is to back way off the brake shoes and see what happens which we will not be able to do until next week. with car running how far down should the pedal go in neutral? what should the brake back off adjustments be? thank you, Peter

Update, Every thing in my brake system has being replaced, including the power booster which Tucson Packard has sent me three different ones to try because of my problems. and to date I still have a hard pedal, with very little braking. HELP would be welcomed. Fred I would like the free part you are offering . I just don't know what else I can do, just does not make any sense when all have been replaced, see previous postings. from: 56packard400

I recently purchased your rebuild kit & 5 1/4" leather seal for my unit followed the instructions, installed unit and still have a hard peddle.I have replaced all parts related to the braking system shoes, linings. lines hoses, etc. I even bought a rebuilt unit from Tucson Packard and have sent it back to Sandy 3 times,he has tested the unit and each time I have the same results,HARD BRAKES, I have also checked the unit as Sandy has told me with just the vacuum line on and with no effort it sucks the rod right in, when I install the unit and connect the fluid lines I am back to square one HARD BRAKES, even standing hard on the brake peddle I cannot lock the brakes up. Would appreciate any help from anyone who has had a similar problem. Thank You Ozstatman for your reply I have read the service manual about this subject but am a bit confused, I will post my problems when i am able to but them in words that make sense. Maybe Ozstatman will read this post and reply, accuse me for not being able to get around, 68 years old and not computer savvy. sometimes very painful, just joking, Peter (56Packard400)

Hi Jack and Owen, This is Peter (56packard 400)regarding my 56 Packard 400 production number my vin is 5687-3905 which the last four digits are the number of car built minus 1000 which means my car is the 2905th. of a total of 3224 the the 1956 year and the 319th. from the end of the 400's. Jack today I received the conversion block, and my 1970 Olds delta 88 oil pump and pick up which is a Seal Power 2224-41203V but the conversion block does not line up to any of the holes , I looked up the number and it is I think what i ordered. Always a problem with some thing are there any photos of the olds pump so I can compare? Jack, I may have not mentioned the fact that I do have a tee on the oil filter with the gauge attached and next week I will install a second gauge in place of the sending unit, a little under the weather giving it a brake for a few days. Will certainly give any results I get. If there are photos showing what a olds pump looks like please let me know.God Bless All Peter.
