1956 Caribbean Production

Morning all. I was pondering the 56 Caribbean production and did some guess-timating. I'd be curious to get any thoughts. Assuming that there are 263 Hard Tops, production began in Nov 1955 and ended June 25 1956 (8 months of production / 263), that would be approximately 33 cars built a month - acknowledging some ramping up the first month or so, looking at the cars produced each month - would it be safe to assume I could determine when my car was approximately made based upon that formula; in my case may/june.

In the absence of a build sheet (I'm told they received the archives with those records missing), I also see the dates stamped on the dashboard gauges with similar dates.

This forum is an invaluable source of facts, information and entertainment - even amidst some occasionally-spirited disagreement - it is always appreciated.

Hello All - i'm doing some restoration my 56 Caribbean Hard Top, including paint MES code. I've noticed that nearly all of the cars I've looked at have the front wheel wells painted black. However, I've noticed one little advertisement where the front wells appear to be the same dover white as the top color. Could anyone tell me what is actually correct?

Hi Mr. Pierson - i'm responding to a rather old post but, nothing ventured nothing gained, I suppose. I was curious if you still had the Cormorant Magazine issue "1987, Autumn, No. 48 1956 Caribbean." I'd be interested in that - and any other that you might have with the 56 cars.

Kind Regards

This makes sense as my low beams are useless - so i used bright - and they cut out just before i pulled into my driveway.

I'm sending the car out for a major refurbishment (as it was completely restored in 2007) - so I'll have those good people tackle that and everything else. I appreciate your and everyone's input.

Took a twilight drive this evening as it's about 80F here in otherwise frigid Boston. About 1/4 mile home my dash and headlights went out.

I played with the dash switch (in and out a few times) and the dimmer as well. Achieving no illumination, I pushed in the switch and as I was pulling into my garage - gave it a try and voila - dash and headlamps again.

The fuse appears to be fine - curious if there is any sort of secondary overheat circuit breaker or just the Universe telling me playtime was over?
