Remove the blades, turn the motor on for a weep then off to get the drive pulley in the correct starting position. Then ensure you have the cables wrapped around the drive pulley and positioned in the correct grooves with the copper and plain ends of the cables engaged in the drive pulley as shown in the photo on page 5 of the instrument section of 55-6 service manual. One of the cables from each side pivot goes on top, the other on the bottom. If that is correct the procedure is to turn the motor on again and let it run for a sweep or two (make sure the lever is set for the normal arc sweep) and then turn the wipers off. When the motor stops it should be in the park position. You can then place the arms on the serrated posts with the blade just barely touching the chrome molding or a tiny bit above it.

Awesome, Thanks! I assume the arms are easy to pull, I didnt see a retainer of any kind but will look again.

I finally found some wiper and tensioning assemblies and installed them on my 56, got decent tension on the cables without overdoing it so happy about that, but...
The blades are not sync'd, one is about 80 degrees off from the other.

I assume I have to swap out cable positions but dont see a better way that will fix this. What should I try?

Thanks in advance

Torsion Levelling

This thing gave me fits, finally found a NOS compensator and replaced and was able to get the car to rise and lower front and back but it would porpoise every few hundred feet, front all the way up then all then way down, was like my own roller coaster.

So got creative and fabricated some limit switches into a bracket and used the post off the drivers torsion rod to actuate them. Worked but had too much range.

So took another look at the suspension and found the bushing/rod/ whatever its called missing from the rear bracket. Its only 3/4 thick so about 3/8 inch difference. I said no way thats going to make a difference but had little to lose by finding a replacement and installing it.
Voila, made a huge difference. Havent had a lot of time on it but initial ride was much better. Working on adding a 10lb residual on the brake lines then can get back on this.

Monroe power steering seals replacement??

I dont find a post about this, has anyone replaced the shaft seals on their rack? Its the vertical shaft that the steering arm (I call it a pittman) attaches to the steering box and moves the internal rack.

Does anyone know if I can just pull that connected arm, pull the seal and install new and reattach? Bottom just has a nut that needs to be pulled then the seal can be removed and replaced.

No leaks on either horizontal end of the rack so I'm only doing these.

Any info and tips appreciated!
