Torsion level issue, 55 Patrician

can anyone point to an illustration or break down of the torsion level system on the packardashian patrician ? I understand there is a light bulb switch or something in the rear end or tail lights that the torsion system runs through and so on. I am going to get mine running and looking for information on how it is setup and how it works and where the breakdown maybe. Thanks

Thermostat, 55 Patrician

this is looking straight down my thermostat hole. I am under the impression what I see is the original thermostat and it needs to be replaced with a modern thermostat. Does anyone know if I need to remove that one or just see if it works. Any thoughts?

I am about to fill up the car with brake fluid. Does anyone recommend a certain type, or just standard?

Ross, thanks for the reply. Are you saying that when I push the brake pedal, the rod is not only supposed to push the entire disk(with the leather around it), but that just before that, the rod itself slides a tiny bit through the disk before it start actually pushing the whole disk down the cylinder? In order words, the rod slides back and forth a tiny bit... or are you just saying it is supposed to able to move side to side (I removed that goober around the rod, which was a rubber o-ring I thought went there, but after looking at the video of when I removed it, it was not there, so I removed it and now the rob moves in a circular motion, but does not push "through" the disk (casting, I think you called it.)

Brake inners, 55 Patrician

I have a hard question. I rebuilt my power booster brake on my car and as we were completing the process we noticed that inside on the cylinder that slides up and down the vacuum canister, it had two small valves on the disk that lets air go either in or out of the vacuum canister. When we took it apart one of the little circular valves was off..or loose in its seat. We found the necessary clip or push on washer to put it back in place however if that clip is put on then since it is on a rocker arm the other little circular valve seat stays open all the time and one is closed. If the one that is closed is pushed open the opposite circular seal that is already open, opens even more, that one never closes. Does anyone have a detailed plan of how that cylinder works with letting air in and out of the brake canister to assist brake cylinder sliding back and forth? Here is a video of what I am talking about. help.https://www.dropbox.com/s/vhoc495u4zhwm6n/20150905_211817.mp4?dl=0

Power Brake, 55 Patrician

SO, the brake was froze in place. We removed it, took it apart, brake fluid was power (like sand), some slight corrosion on the wall of the power brake canister which I buffed out for the most part. The rebuild kit is $149 or a whole new working unit is $375, all from Kanter, which shows to have the master cylinder bolted on the back with the unit.

Questions:
1.Is is better to try and rebuild or just get a new one
2. The new one says Bendix and mine has a word that starts with T on the side of it.. does that matter?
3. Anyone got experience with rebuild issues or new ones?

Thanks

I am trying to replace the brake hoses on my 55 Patrician, but can't find a diagram. I understand there are 2 hoses on front and one in back, but I am not sure where the one in back goes. Anyone know of a diagram?

New Packard Owner, need restored, 1955 Patrician

So I got a 1955 Patrician from my uncle to passed away. It was been sitting in the same spot, under a carport for about 35 years. It shows 35,000 miles and 3 tires, although completed dry rotted, held air. I know nothing about it, but hope to do some work on it. I was told it ran when he parked it there. The fuel pump is off along with the gas tank, which I have. How would I find out if there are any other owners in my area to chat with? Thanks, Blake
