The float in the carb had a hole in it as was full of gas. The shop had a new float and they are rebuilding the carb.

I forgot to mention in my post that we are getting gas to the carb. I could see gas come into the carb when we crank the car. Also when we let off the starter gas pours from the carb, it seems to be comming from around a seam in the carb.

I have a 1948 Standard Eight that will not start. It started briefly and ran rough for about a min and then shut off. It will not start again. We checked the Chock and it does not appear to be stuck. Any suggestions?
