I've recently had similar symptoms on a car that I acquired from an older gentleman. It would run great then just sputter out after different drive times. It turned out that the fuel tank had been cleaned and sealed in the 90's and the ethanol gas caused the lining to peel off. Flakes would float around and occasionally cover the intake tube while suction was applied. After the car would die, and the suction was relieved, the flakes would float away and the pump would pick up fuel and fill the carb again. Since you' e indicated that the accelerator pump is dry, i am assuming that the carb bowl us empty and I'm wondering if the pump is starved.

I also had a similar problem with rust flakes in the tank of a 35 Plymouth and a 51 kaiser with the integral fuel pick ups in the tank. When the car went up hill for one and down hill for the other, the rust flakes would shift and plug up the pick up and then fall off after the car died ( they were too big to actually go into the tube). The cars all ran great when the obstructions moved.

It may not be related, but just thought that I would relay the experience.

Thank you everyone for your help.

My line was apparently cut off so I will be flaring it with modern fittings.

115c Oil Pressure Tube Location

Good Morning,

I'm continuing to try and put my 115c back together, however, i am trying to get an idea of where the steel tubing should be connected to the block for the oil pressure gage. I have the fine tube exiting the firewall on the passenger side of the car and it is coiled several wraps. The previous owner had partially disassembled the car and the shop manual doesn't have an illustration.

The car has a bypass filter plumbed into the passenger side port located near the front of the block.

Would anyone be able to post a picture of the correct connection of the pressure tube and the recommended fittings?

Thank you for your help.

Bob

Is the Stromberg a direct drop in for the current linkage set up from the Chandler Groves or are there any modifications necessary?

Do you have a photo that shows your current set-up that you could share?

Thank you for your help.

As I continue to put my 115c back together, I was expecting to put a carb kit into my car since the carb is filled with dried rotten modern fuel. After looking for a kit and looking through the posts on the web site, the Chandler Groves carb on the car doesn't seem likely to be fixed.

Would anyone have a Carter WA-1 477s that they might be willing to sell, or have any leads that they could share, so that I can continue to move forward with this car?

The car is not being restored, I'm just trying to get it running so that I can drive it, as is, so I'm hoping that someone may gave good used one that may need cleaning and a kit.

Thank you all for your help, the folks on this site seem to be some of the most helpful that I've run into.

Bob

Flackmaster,

Please let me know if the PM didn't come thru. I am hoping that you might be able to get something out before your trip.

Thanks

Bob

Thank you Corsaseven and Owen Dyneto for the information.

I'm hoping that Flackmaster may have something in his inventory. I think that the regulator on the cat may also be wrong also as I have a fourth wire in the new harness.
