Oh, we won't be changing the color. Love the color it is, whatever it is.

Tim, that is an excellent idea! I would never have thought of insulating the top. Now that you mention it, I have read quite a few reviews from folks using a Home Depot product to insulate and sound proof car doors and floors and the like. It's an adhesive backed shiny coated bubble wrap stuff, IIRC, and they say it works wonderfully.

At some point, we are going to have the car painted. When we do, I guess we'll just get as close as possible to matching the current color (so that the new paint matches the door jams and other interior colors).

When we do paint, would it be a huge mistake or injustice to the car to make it a two-tone? Considering that it does not have A/C, I would consider ivory for the top. It'd look great and keep things cooler in the summer months.

Taking about keeping things cooler, I'm also considering a new clear window film that blocks UV and heat. Our local police department just had their cars filmed with this material, and my cop friends report outstanding results without affecting visibility at all.

Gator, I bought it from a local fellow who purchased it from his brother (also a Georgian) 7 years ago. The brother owned it for 30 years. He bought it from a lady in Douglasville, Ga, who was presumably the original owner, and he is the owner who had it painted. So, as far as I know, it's always been a GA car, and it always lived within a 20-mile radius of right here and now. The brothers are still living. I need to contact the 30-year owner for more details.

The odometer reads 39,825. It broke approximately 6,000 miles ago, according to brother 2, in whom I have full confidence. But, here say is only heresay. Mileage is honestly unknown. But I have no doubt it is low.

It IS metallic. Very fine flakes, like gold dust.

I can see no evidence of any "orange peel" effect. There seems to be a top coat that is deteriorating, and it's not like a modern top coat. More lacquer-looking than the modern plastic looking top coat.

The color resembles the ad very closely. It does NOT resemble the Valiant Green whatsoever (excepting that they're both green, you know).

Regarding the interior color, it could easily be the gunmetal gray instead of green - next to the green, perhaps it takes on a hue or shade that is deceiving. Off the car, it has a bluish tint. Is there a paint code on the car anywhere for the interior color?

It is honestly hard to read the K on the placard, but it is not impossible. It is definitely a K. But it looks like it was added/stamped as an afterthought - crooked, not centered, and faint. Possibly a Monday morning job?

This is very interesting. I didn't expect such a discussion, and I certainly thank you all for the input.

The interior trim is a dark metallic green, but no sign of metallic on the car, no overspray, and no color change under trim (saw that when re-attaching the door handle as well as under the trunk badge trim). It was a truly outstanding repaint, apparently. Or the K is just wrong.

This car, according to the PO, was repainted approximately 35 years ago. But there is no evidence of a color change. Contrary to the picture, it is not dark at all. It perfectly matches the swatch for Aspen Green. That's what confuses me.

Or what color was it originally? Paint code is K. If I'm reading things right on the Packard Paint X-Ref file, that means that this 52 200 should be Valiant Green Metallic (or should that be Gallant Green?). Well, it ain't Valiant or Gallant. And that holds true deep into the doors, trunk, engine bay. Valiant Green Metallic is not on either Dupont or Ditzler paint chip cards. I see Gallant Green, which might be the color of the inerior trim metal pieces (dash, window sills, etc.), but the rest of the car is, the best I can see, Aspen Green with no hint or shade of ever having been anything but Aspen Green. Please advise.
