The original Super Eight filter (Purolator L8, a full-flow filter), did not have a replaceable element, the entire filter, internals and canister, was a sealed, disposable unit. R&A makes a substitute unit which can be opened to use a modern replaceable cartridge, check your Packard club monthly newsletter for details, or R&A Engineering (Robert Anzalone), Manchester, MI. 734-428-1808.
