Oil for rear and overdrive

Hi
I got a 36 120 with an R11 overdrive and I was having a debate about what oil I should use for the rear and overdrive. It seem that the debate was about bright metal (bronze, brass) and the ability of today oil to damage these parts
Any thoughts?
Thanks
W

For the overdrive, just follow Packard's recommendations in the owner's manual and/or lubrication chart. Since your rear axle uses hypoid gearing, you MUST use an EP (extreme pressure) gear oil but that's not a concern as there are no yellow metal parts in the rear axle assembly.
