OK, I found it. They are brass tubular rivets, like these:
alibaba.com/product-gs/373418099/brass_tubular_rivet.html I will leave this post for a future person that might be confused, unless y'all think this is pretty standard knowledge in which case I will remove it. Thanks, Tom

a/k/a "eyelet" rivets. Restoration Supply also has several sizes of them under the name "tubular" rivets. Sometimes just decorative, other times used where a secure electrical ground connection is desired, the latter probably the case with the "Startix".
