Trying to get this 53 Cavalier back together and of course ran into something goofy. Here are a few pictures of the thermostat that came out along with the upper neck. I'm told this isn't correct. This can't be the only one of these out there so can anyone identify the thermostat? It worked well so I'd like to retain it.

The neck looks like the cast one that was reproduced by Packards International at one time.
The original was thinner steel and the thermostat was held in place by a wavy spring wire.
No reason why the neck that you have wouldn't work and just needs a thermostat with a wide enough flange to be retained by the recess in the neck.

yes i'd really like to keep the neck and just find a thermostat that will press into it.

If it's a Packards International part, Custom Auto in Santa Ana, CA, should know what fits.

Ended up just making an adapter so now it takes the thermostats listed on the cross reference sheet.

Since it’s not a stock Packard housing or thermostat, you'll need to go back the supplier or manufacturer to find the proper thermostat.
