I was at the Russo and Steele auction, in Scottsdale, last evening with my Granddaughter, Tara, and there were two Packard convertibles that did not make their reserves.
One was a 48 and the other a 53. Both were very nice cars, nicely painted and upholstered, good tires. The 48 had a high bid of $21,000.00, the 53 was for sale after the auction for $30,000. Ernie in Arizona

It was a fun night........I was interested in the 34 Phaeton, which sold for $156,800 and the 41 Darrin sold for $307,500.
They were both beautiful cars. The 34 was an older LaVine Restoration but held up very nice.

Wow. WAY under the pre-auction estimate on the '34 Super Eight. One wonders about the reproduction firewall data plate, though, and the non Packard serial number. "People in the know" may know something more about this car than what meets the untrained eye.
