Pulling the oil pan off on a 1948 356. All bolts off. Pan is loose, but won't come down however. I already have the timing cover & front motor mount off. I'm guessing I have to also undo the side motor mounts towards the front and use a cherry picker to hoist front of engine up and inch or two so pan will clear the crank and come off. Am I missing anything here?

Not necessary to remove the timing chain cover and front mount. The pan may just be held in place by the adhesive nature of the old gasket cement - try to loosen around the edges with a putty knife. And it may well be necessary to rotate the crankshaft a bit for clearance of the counterweights at the front.

Wow, I never had much difficulty removing the oil pan on my 47. You might want to try turning the crankshaft in case one of the counter weights is giving you a problem. If the front motor mount is weak you could lift the front of the engine a bit but that should all that is necessary if I recall right .

Got it down. You guys were right, I just had to turn the crank a bit and it came right down. I had the timing cover off anyway for cleaning, inspecting the chain, and installing a new seal. Check out my progress on the AACA projects forum.
