I don't have an Atlas catalog but do have a Delco catalog that shows the cap number as 1837974 for 1947-52 Packard 8 cylinder models. The Delco cap changed in 1953 to 1917247 which was used for Packard applications right through to 1958. Auto-Lite distributors were used prior to 1947.
The 1837974 cap was also used for: Buick 1940-52 plus 1953 Model 40 Cadillac 1940-50 Oldsmobile 8 1940-50 Pontiac 8 1940-48, 1950-54 Edit: Just checked another catalog and GM applications go back to 1937 for Buick, 1938 for Cadillac, 1933 for Oldsmobile and 1935 for Pontiac

Thanks. That's what I'm seeing also. It fits a lot of early GM applications as well as the Packard.
What are we paying for old stock caps these days? jack vines
