Have you adjusted the idle mixture jets? They are two brass screws with a screwdriver slot and located in the bottom front of the carb.
Usual place to start is to screw them in until they just bottom out (DO NOT TIGHTEN!), then unscrew a turn and a half. To adjust the idle set the engine idle speed so the car will idle as close to the specified speed as possible then screw in one of the idle jets until the engine just starts to slow, then back out one-half turn. Repeat on the other one. You will probably need to go back and forth between the idle speed and idle mixture to get the correct idle speed. Do this with a warmed up engine. The best way to do this job with a vacuum gauge connected to adjust the idle mixture for the highest vacuum reading at the specified idle speed. Good luck. (o{}o)
