IIRC, Hank went thru this on his 55 and the seals are NLA. Max suggested tie rod dust covers could be used by drilling out the center hole slightly. I believe that is what he did but there was still some issues with getting it over the ball so maybe a bit of heat would help it stretch. Steele has several different tie rod ends and a couple look like possibilities. Maybe the local parts store would have something.

Howard,
Thanks, kind of what I figured. I'll pull off a worn one and go to NAPA to talk to one of the old countermen. Craig

I got the solution to the NLA T-L ball stud seals. On 1956 at least, 4 each of HELP! 13652 "Dust Boot".
Here's what you have to do to make them work. 1) Cut them down to about 5/8IN high measured from the small end (I used a pair of dikes): Cut reliefs 180-deg apart as shown. One side is narrower and deeper than the other side:

I heated the dust boots in hot water for a couple of minutes and sparayed some silicon spray in the hole. The boot went right over the ball stud end no problem. Here's some pictures of them installed:
FYI, here is a new modified one compared to the worn out original: Craig
