Just wondered if anyone out there had installed an aftermarket cruise control on their 1955 or 1956 Packard. Any info would be helpful.

I installed a Rostra unit www.rostra.com and like it. It is electronic, so no vacuum lines involved. A bit of programming involved, which can be confusing for weoldfarts.

I briefly thought about it, but the car is such a joy to drive that I never considered it after several long trips. I wasted money having the radio rebuilt because I never listen to it. I listen to the vehicle and enjoy the driving experience.

I am also installing a Rostra unit on my Panther. I want a Cruise Control because of the many hours to be spent at constant speed on Interstate Highways during the several long tours we will be taking. I do not have a cruise control on my 55 Pat because the most I drive it anymore is about 1 hour to Las Vegas and back.

I'll post pictures of my install in about a month when I get to that.
