Hello everyone. Had my transmission rebuilt by an old timer
who does all my transmissions on my cars and has done many
Packard Ultramatic rebuuilds. Tranny does shift a little hard from 1st to second but may get better as I drive it more. Has a leak not too bad but enough to leave a mark.
I took it back to my guy said that the rear seal I guess was leaking between the extension housing and rear seal. He ordered another seal and this time he put some silicone around the outer seal. Still after a little while it started to leak and leaks more after I drive it maybe do to
the pressure. I am going to bring it back to him but does anybody have any suggestions. It did leak more before the rebuild. Thanks Gary

There is no pressure there unless the case vent is plugged. I have had them leak around the heavy washer that retains the drive flange. Otherwise make certain that the sealing surface of the drive flange is smooth and without nicks.
