I bought a front bumper that's in nicer shape than mine, has fresh chrome but is missing the bolthole for the license plate bracket. So, two options:

1- drill a hole through the newly chromed bumper. Anyone have words of wisdom to prevent flaking the chrome at the edges of the hole? Is that even a problem? I need a 1/4" hole to use my existing bracket.

2- is there a bracket that would clamp on to this style front bumper, instead of drilling a hole? Has anyone found a good quality unit like this?

You could bend up a bracket that fastens to the bumper pan and reaches over the top edge of the bumper. Or, you can just leave the plate under the seat as I do here in MD and have never gotten grief about it.

Otherwise, center punch and drill as per normal and perhaps put a little paint around the holea before the bracket goes on.
