Has anyone ever repaired or restored the cloisonn? hubcaps on the senior Packards 46-50? Could someone give me an idea of the process and cost?

I had a hood emblem and a couple of other items done some years back.

Typically, the process is the old enamel or glass is completely removed. The metal is repaired as needed and then replated. After that is done new glass or enamel is fired over the plating followed by a polishing process.

I don't know if Bill Hirsch still has a repair source but he used to do them. He still advertises new hubcap emblems for the 46-50 as available.

If Hirsch no longer does them, you can do a search for cloisonn? repair. Several mention doing auto emblems.

Average Cost is $350 and a very long lead time, One guy is out into 2015.

I found and use Karla Maxwell and she runs 3-6 months out.

@TroyT - I saw and read up on Karla Maxwell - glad to know someone else here has used her. Her process looked very good and detailed.

Another alternative is to buy new inserts.I believe Tuscon Packard has them as well as other dealers.
