Hi All,

I have recently purchased a 1939 packard 1708 with the Packard patent late number 1235-2107. It was originally a Chicago packard.

It is a limo that has been in Australia since the late 1970s. It was purchased by an Australian called Barry Smith who sourced the car with another chap called Max Hood. It was purchased from Dallas Texas in the 1970s and exported to Aus in complete condition but in need of a total restoration. (it was restored over the next few years - see photo).

I am trying to locate it's history in the USA and was hoping to find someone in Dallas Texas that knew of the car or it's previous owners?

Thanks again for your help, even if someone knew who I could contact it would be much appreciated.

Regards

Rowan

Do you have any documentation that it was sold from Dallas, or is it a verbal recollection of the transaction?

There were a few antique car dealers back then, but I don't think any are still around.

Howdy,

Just spoke to Barry Smith again. It was a private sale, found from the old Hemmings motor newspaper in the classifieds section.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers
