Did yours have the escutcheon and the retention bracket under the escutcheon? It isnt in your photo (you may have left those out of the photo).
The snap ring holds the compressed spring which pushes back on the threaded collar and that pushes back to the main handle-stem assembly. You should be able to attach the under retention bracket with two screws to the door...then the escutcheon + threaded collar + handle by threading the collar (which pulls the escutcheon and handle with it) in using an external spanner with a stud that goes into that hole in the threaded collar...the hole is a spanner stud grasping feature, not a hole for a set screw. Its a bit finicky and a PIA (be careful not to scuff your paint job). Take a close up photo of the collar threads so we can see if it is worn/broken off, etc...often happens and you need a new collar (several people will have one of those, especially at Hershey). let me know if this explanation and photos confuses or clarifies. Hmmmmm , that escution may be whats missing, along with the threads on that chrome threaded ring with the hole in it.
That's what I tried taking a better picture of , the threads seem broken off short or worn , and the inside where it threads to seems to have been buggered up a bit. I will try and re-assemble it , and check for that escution , and get back about it. Tough as I don't have internet in the car shop and have to go back to the bike shop to check the forum and search etc. Thanks for the great pictures and details !

The photo is a tad blurred, but it look to be in good enough shape to use (better than some I've dealt with).
In addition to a possible missing escutcheon, is the "under bracket" still screwed onto your door? check its threads...maybe cleaning up the threads on both it and the collar will create a positive fastening. Will you be at Hershey?

The inner threads on the escution are good and true and clean, and attached to the door solidly. I can see now this threaded piece is the issue. It doesn't show in the pic , but the end threads look like they are gone and as a whole it appears too short. The end is sheared off and it looks like it happened when someone was working on it they snapped off or broke off inside the female part. I can see remenents of thread inside the threads of the female part. I cleaned those out with a pic, and wire brushed them clean and the little chrome threaded part just barely tightens by maybe one thread even without the handle assembly parts added.
I know I am not going to be at Hershey , in fact am out of the loop and had to look the meet up lol. Judging from what I see it had an issue and was worked on to basically get it to stay together to sell. Something I never do , and would just like to make it correct and usable. All the rest of the parts cleaned up well and work, even the lock mechanism works correct. Its just that chrome threaded part. I looked on Merritt and didn't see anything , did see complete handles , $$$$ yikes. If you think I should make a thread to see if someone has one ?? Thanks again !

OK , I will try better pics , I have been taking them thru my chromebook. If I can take them with my phone and crop them and focus better.
And try to upload them and PM. Going thru all the parts , all good except for the threaded piece with the hole I "thought" was for a set screw. Thank you Thinking if I sign in thru my phone I can send them.

I looked on Merritt and didn't see anything Don't look on Merritt as all you'll see is a portion of the inventory from when the site was created which was some years ago. I've said this before, do not rely on online listings and catalogs as virtually NONE are up to date! Keeping them current would require a full time programmer and no one does that.
