Some suggestions;
What did the seller tell you about the car? Did you make a copy of the title, before you transferred it in your name? See if you can contact the owner, before your seller, and see where that leads. Ask your county about title searches, see if they are any help.

Seller hadn't had it that long and was the first Packard HE had been involved with.
Previous seller in his 80's but supposedly had been heavily involved with Packards, just didn't have enough left in the "tank" to take this one on. Seller had a Bonded title due to the first pevious seller "misplaced/ lost it. County/ state records are an option but most times, time is not. I will call the seller and get the previous sellers' name and it may ring bells with some on here, if he were heavily involved with Packards. To be continued............

Ok......
Just got off the phone with the seller. He told me that he got the 51 Patrician from his uncle Dan Perry out of Duncan, OK. He stated that he wasn't sure but that it was entirely possible that his uncle was the original owner. If true, I would be the third owner but the car was in the same family for the first two.......not that it means much...just sayin...LOL With all of THAT being said, was there a Packard dealership in Duncan, OK in the 50's and does anybody recognize the name Dan Perry, being involved with Packards other than ownership ? Ya gotta love a mystery........LOL HotRod

I checked the on site Packard Dealer Listing and found a bunch of dealers in Oklahoma, but none for Duncan. Hopefully your knowledge of OK is better than mine as to which of the towns listed would be close to Duncan. Just click on the "Packard Dealerships" listing on the left and scroll down until you get to OK.
Good Luck,

Hotrod,
It sounds like you need to talk to more family members of uncle Dan, and uncle Dan as well, if you have the chance. You are assuming that the car was bought in Duncan, maybe he lived somewhere else in 1951, if he bought the car new. Maybe they have a picture or two of the car being used during the years of ownership.

You might try the Studebaker museum to see if they have a copy of the bill slip/bill of lading. If they have it, they sell copies for a reasonable cost.
Can I assume you've already contacted PAC's roster keeper for that year and model to see if he has any prior history?

It appears that if he were a life long resident of Duncan, OK....he could have bought the car in either Ardmore or OKC.
I have not contacted the museum or the Roster keeper.....yet..... HotRod
