Breakout of K Steering Wheel
#1

Well I found out I had a K Steering Wheel on my Green Parts Packard, so I took it apart and made a parts breakout. I found the mount to the steering shaft is metal ( the T type Steering Wheel is not) so that is why the need for a gasket and insulators for the three mounting screws.
I hope to redo the breakout and make it better, later.
Wes

Excellent and sorely needed. If you redo it will you show or highlight the small locating pin (more of a bump) on the contact plate which goes thru the 4th hole in the gasket and then extends into the locating socket or hole in the hub.

Also, is there any kind of plastic insulator in that locating hole in your hub? Mine did not have one but it had been taken apart and repainted at some point. The diameter of the pin is much smaller than the hole so I thought something should be there. I fit a small plastic ring into the hub hole to keep the pin from touching the sides just in case for whatever reason the plate was able to rotate..

Howard, you amaze me with all the knowledge and photos you come up with (I just saw the photos of the seats on another forum).
So I looked at the steering wheel again and saw nothing in the hole, but it does look like the gasket is thick enough to keep the circular indent from touching the steering wheel. I took some more photos to show what your talking about. I had to use my phone since my daughter took my good camera to a school event and I also used a little tape to hold the gasket together since the gasket broke in half. The gasket looks like it is some kind of cardboard like material.
Wes
P.S. I will update the breakout later.

Finally got around to putting my steering wheel back on, so I took some pictures of the indexing post.
